WALL RELIEFS
The wall-relief paintings are a process-based search for meaningfully dealing with abstraction and painting. Composition built out of repeated abstracted forms, originally from project Engineering Hope, became an index of my failure and uncompromised effort to control the fragile material. These ambiguous floorplans of spaces are revealed by the scale and materiality; they can be read as map, as a motherboard or as hieroglyph. Some parts are unpredictable as the burned edges of the lasercut wood stain both the plaster and the wood, resulting in shadow-like contrasts.
